Het Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe vormt het grootste brakwaterschor van Europa. Het gebied is 3580 hectare groot en bestaat uit een delta van slikken en schorren met vele geulen. Het verschil tussen hoog- en laagwater bedraagt ter hoogte van het verdronken land gemiddeld 4,80 meter, maar bij springtij kan dat oplopen tot ruim zeven meter. Het Verdronken Land is een voor vogels belangrijk gebied waar veel broed- en trekvogels leven of passeren.
