Dit ommetje voert u door een stukje van Nationaal Landschap Middag-Humsterland. Een cultuurlandschap dat tot de 12de eeuw tot het getijdenlandschap behoorde. Daar komt u direct mee in aanraking als u bij museum Wierdenland in Ezinge start. De route voert u langs de oude, historische weg naar Aduard, wierden uit ruim 100 voor Christus en kronkelende slootjes die het spoor van oude kreken, als getuigen van het voormalige getijdenlandschap, volgen. Van latere tijden is de in de 12de eeuw aangelegde Oldijk, die fungeerde als ringdijk voor het (schier)eiland Middag.
