A la cantonada de Gaullelaan i Leopoldlaan es troba l' escola municipal Jean Noté , una antiga escola primària i escola de conserge, construïda pel municipi de Tournai el 1878 en estil renaixentista flamenc.
Com és habitual, el conjunt es construeix al voltant de parcs infantils envoltats de murs i aules a les quals s'hi accedeix per dues entrades monumentals diferents ; un per a nois a l'avinguda de Gaulle i un altre per a noies a Leopoldlaan. Una tercera entrada dóna accés a l' escola de conserge.
La construcció de l'escola va suposar un gran esforç perquè es va considerar que aquest palau escolar era massa prestigiós per al nen de la 'família mitjana'.
L'any 1914, l' escola destruïda va ser reconstruïda de la mateixa manera.
