Aquesta església probablement substituí al segle XII un oratori dedicat als sants Timoteu i Simfori.
És un edifici gòtic fet amb pedra calcària de Maas que ha estat reformat diverses vegades, però probablement data de la segona meitat del segle XV. Era una església “independent” perquè no era casa parroquial. El 1598 s'annexà l'església de Saint-Martin-en-Fouarge.
L'estiu de 1322, els hutois, en desacord amb el comtat de Namur, van confiscar les campanes del castell fortificat de Wasseiges. Van anomenar el més gran "Wasseiges" i el van fer instal·lar al campanar de l'església de Saint-Mengold a Huy.
Avui, aquesta església desacralitzada (des de 1979) és un recinte d'espectacles gestionat pel Centre Culturel de l'Arrondissement de Huy.
