El Castell Groc de Weimar és un edifici barroco protegit com a patrimoni històric que data de l'any 1704, el qual va ser construït com a residència per a la vídua de la duquessa Charlotte Dorothea Sophie. Forma part del complex històric de castells del centre de Weimar i és una expressió arquitectònica de l'antiga ciutat de la cort i residència. Johann Sebastian Bach va donar classes de música aquí als dos prínceps del duc Johann Ernst III. L'escriptor d'èxit August von Kotzebue va passar la seva joventut en aquesta casa. Anys més tard, el castell va ser nomenat seu del Ministeri de Finances de Turingia. Des de 1998, l'edifici forma part de la Fundació Clàssica Weimar i des de 2005 és part del nou centre d'estudis de la Biblioteca de la duquessa Anna Amàlia.
El Castell Groc és part del complex històric de castells al voltant de la "Plaça de la Democràcia" de Weimar, on també es troba el "Castell Verd" amb la Biblioteca de la duquessa Anna Amàlia. Així, el Castell Groc forma l'extrem nord de l'ensems urbanístic.
