Il Castello Giallo di Weimar è un edificio barocco protetto dai monumenti risalente all'anno 1704, costruito come residenza per la duchessa Charlotte Dorothea Sophie. Fa parte del complesso storico dei castelli nel centro di Weimar ed è un'espressione architettonica dell'antica città di corte e residenza. Johann Sebastian Bach qui insegnò musica ai due principi del duca Johann Ernst III. Il famoso scrittore August von Kotzebue trascorse la sua giovinezza in questa casa. Anni dopo, il castello fu nominato sede del Ministero delle Finanze della Turingia. Dal 1998, l'edificio è parte della Klassik Stiftung Weimar e dal 2005 fa parte del nuovo centro di studi della Biblioteca Duchessa Anna Amalia.
Il Castello Giallo è parte del complesso storico dei castelli intorno alla "Piazza della Democrazia" di Weimar, dove si trova anche il "Castello Verde" con la Biblioteca Duchessa Anna Amalia. In questo modo, il Castello Giallo costituisce la conclusione settentrionale dell'insieme urbano.
