Els Fanals, que es troben a la plaça Reial de Barcelona, van ser realitzats per l'arquitecte modernista Antoni Gaudí i Cornet .
Fou un dels seus primers treballs l'any 1879, després de titular-se com arquitecte i col·laborat com delineant amb Josep Fontserè i Mestre en la reixa d'entrada del Parc de la Ciutadella, sent aquesta, la raó per la qual va rebre l'encàrrec municipal per a l'enllumenat públic.
