L'efímer Bisbat de Roda, Roda d'Isàvena, o Roda de Ribagorça, va ésser creat l'any 956 o 957 pel comte de Ribagorça Ramon III de Ribagorça, que manifestà la voluntat comtal de tenir jerarquia eclesiàstica pròpia, independitzant-se del bisbat d'Urgell que era qui tenia autoritat sobre aquestes terres per precepte reial de Lluís el Pietós des de 814. Un segle abans ja trobem uns precedents d'aquest bisbat en la creació del bisbat de Pallars-Ribagorça per al bisbe Adolf .
