La cova d'Altamira és una cavitat natural a la roca en què es conserva un dels cicles pictòrics i artístics més importants de la Prehistòria. És al municipi de Santillana del Mar , a uns dos quilòmetres del centre urbà, en un prat del qual va prendre el nom.
Des del seu descobriment el 1868 per Modesto Cubillas i el seu posterior estudi per Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola ha estat excavada i estudiada pels principals prehistoriadors de cadascuna de les èpoques des que va ser admesa la seva pertinença al Paleolític.
