La Capella del Calvari es troba al costat del Seminari Major d'Asidònia-Jerez.
Segons la tradició, quan Alfons XI es trobava a Jerez l'any 1340, va acompanyar la processó des del Sant Enterrament fins a la capella, d'aquí que se'l conegui com la Capella Reial.
L'any 1922 es va incorporar un gran monument del Sagrat Cor de Jesús.
Molt lligada a la capella hi ha la confraria del mateix nom, ja que aquesta és l'entitat que històricament s'ha preocupat més per la conservació d'aquest patrimoni.
