La Capilla del Calvario se encuentra al lado del Seminario Mayor de Asidonia-Jerez.
Según la tradición, cuando Alfonso XI se encontraba en Jerez en el año 1340, acompañó la procesión desde el Santo Entierro hasta la capilla, de ahí que se le conozca como la Capilla Real.
En el año 1922 se incorporó un gran monumento del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
Muy relacionada con la capilla está la cofradía del mismo nombre, ya que esta es la entidad que históricamente se ha preocupado más por la conservación de este patrimonio.
