Només les torres quadrades i punxegudes van sobreviure a la destrucció de l'abadia de Saint-Winoc , en la seva funció de senyal de navegació. Els vaixells que entraven al canal de Dunkerque eren guiats en una adreça segura per les dues torres de Bergues.
La torre de l'església abacial va ser construïda el 1031.
El 1812, la Tour Pointue es va esfondrar per falta de suport i el Ministeri de Marina la va fer reconstruir. A principis del segle XX, la ciutat va comprar el lloc per crear un jardí públic.
