El castell de Verrès és un dels monuments medievals més famosos de la Vall d'Aosta, lloc de pas entre Itàlia i el nord-oest europeu. Va ser construït en el segle xiv com a fortalesa militar d'Ibleto de Challant , il·lustre membre del llinatge Challant, que ostentà el càrrec de Capità General i Governador del Piemont entre 1379 i 1404, durant el regnat de tres comtes Amadeus de la Dinastia Savoia: el VI, el VII i el VIII.
