El castillo de Verrès es uno de los monumentos medievales más famosos de Valle de Aosta,[1] lugar de paso entre Italia y el noroeste europeo. Fue construido en el siglo XIV como fortaleza militar de Yblet de Challant , miembro ilustre del linaje Challant y quien ostentó el cargo de capitán general y gobernador del Piamonte entre 1379 y 1404, durante el reinado de tres condes Amadeos de Saboya: Amadeo VI, Amadeo VII y Amadeo VIII.
