Birkkarspitze er en top i Hinterautal-Vomper-kæden og med sine 2749 m over havets overflade danner den den højeste hævning i Karwendel. Sammen med de tre Ødkarspitzen danner den et massiv i centrum af Karwendel. Birkkarspitze kan bestiges fra Karwendelhaus på to til tre timer gennem Schlauchkar og over Schlauchkarsattel. Få meter øst for Schlauchkarsattel ligger Birkkarhütte, en bjælkehytte, fra hvilken en sikret sti fører til toppen. Alternativt tilbyder den længere rute over den sikrede Brendelsteig og de tre Ødkarspitzen sig selv for erfarne bjergbestigere under stabile vejrforhold. En opstigning fra syd i Hinterautal er mulig gennem Birkkarklamm og den vestlige Birkkar.
