Indtil 2019 kunne man regelmæssigt se kunstneren Panamarenko og hans hustru Eveline Hoorens gå rundt i området omkring Sint-Maria-Oudenhove. I denne smukke landsby boede de sammen i mange år. Panamarenko døde her den 14/12/2019. I en oplæst klumme fra hans enke Eveline Hoorens hyldede hun ham. Der fortalte hun også, at den sjove sang "Shame and Scandal in the Family" af Shwan Elliott var deres yndlingsnummer, som de spillede, mens de gik sammen i denne smukke region.
