Fino al 2019, qui si potevano vedere regolarmente l'artista Panamarenko e sua moglie Eveline Hoorens passeggiare nei dintorni di Sint-Maria-Oudenhove. In questo splendido villaggio vivevano insieme da anni. Panamarenko è morto qui il 14/12/2019. In una colonna letta in pubblico dalla sua vedova Eveline Hoorens ha reso omaggio a lui. Lì ha anche raccontato che il divertente brano "Shame and Scandal in the Family" di Shwan Elliott era il loro pezzo preferito che suonavano mentre passeggiavano insieme in questa splendida regione.
