Det Sankt-Elisabeth Begijnhof stammer fra 1238 og blev optaget på UNESCOs verdensarvsliste i 1998 - et unikt stykke historie i hjertet af byen. Begijnhofet er flere gange blevet ødelagt gennem århundrederne, og dets nuværende form fik det i det 17. århundrede. Du finder omkring fyrre barokhuse med en afgrænset forhaver og et udstillingshus. I Sankt-Anna-salen forklares det med udgangspunkt i autentisk arv og moderne medieteknikker, hvad et begijnhof faktisk var.
Efter en gåtur gennem de prydede gader kan du slappe af i caféen 'Hus fra Store Fru'.
Det aller sidste begijntje i verden, Marcella Pattyn, boede fra 1960 til 2005 i begijnhofet i Kortrijk. Hun døde i 2013 i en alder af 93 år.
