Das Sint-Elisabethbegijnhof stammt aus dem Jahr 1238 und wurde 1998 in die UNESCO-Welterbeliste aufgenommen - ein einzigartiges Stück Geschichte im Herzen der Stadt. Das Begijnhof wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte mehrmals zerstört und erhielt seine heutige Form im 17. Jahrhundert. Dort findet man etwa vierzig barocke Häuschen mit einem abgeschlossenen Vorgärtchen und einem Schauraum. In der Sint-Annazaal wird anhand von authentischem Erbe und modernen Medientechniken erklärt, was ein Begijnhof eigentlich war.
Nach einem Spaziergang durch die geschmückten Gassen kann man im Kaffeehaus „Huis van de Grootjuffrouw“ verweilen.
Das letzte Begijntje der Welt, Marcella Pattyn, lebte von 1960 bis 2005 im Begijnhof von Kortrijk. Sie verstarb 2013 im Alter von 93 Jahren.
