På stedet, hvor det Militære Hospital blev opført i slutningen af det 19. århundrede, stod engang 'Fort 4 fra Berchem'. Det var en del af forløberen til Brialmontbæltet. I dag udgør 't Groen Kwartier en behagelig, bilfri boligpark (8 ha) i byen. I den tidligere kapel åbnede Sergio Herman restaurant The Jane.
