Wortel er en landsby i provinsen Antwerpen i Belgien og en delkommune af byen Hoogstraten. Wortel var en selvstændig kommune indtil kommunereformen i 1977. Området omkring Wortel var allerede beboet i forhistorisk tid. I 1155 blev Wortel første gang nævnt som Wurtelam. Måske delte Wortel sig et sted mellem det 9. og 12. århundrede fra Rijkevorsel. Omkring 1300 var der tale om herre af Wortel og Hoogstraten, og siden da var Wortel nært knyttet til Landet Hoogstraten. Fra 1740 til 1794 var Wortel i personlig forening med hertugerne af Hoogstraten. Derefter blev Wortel en selvstændig kommune.
