Som som i andre besatte lande blev der under 2. verdenskrig røvet kunst i vores land, og der blev også købt kunst for store beløb. Belgien har altid hævdet, at krigshistorien var blevet undersøgt, og at der ikke var malerier med problematisk oprindelse i belgiske museer. Det viser sig at være forkert.
Her i Museum for Skønne Kunster i Antwerpen er der et værk af Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem: Ceres og Bacchus og et værk af Roelant Savery: Orpheus og dyrene.
