Al igual que en otros países ocupados, en nuestro país durante la II Guerra Mundial se robó arte y también se compró arte por grandes sumas de dinero. Bélgica siempre ha afirmado que el pasado bélico se había investigado y que en los museos belgas no había cuadros con un origen problemático. Eso resulta no ser cierto.
Aquí en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Amberes hay una obra de Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem: Ceres y Baco y una obra de Roelant Savery: Orfeo y los animales.
