Rochelinval havde sin plads i Slaget om Ardennerne. 250 medlemmer af det 551. faldskrætsinfanteribataljon fik til opgave at angribe landsbyen Rochelinval den 7. januar 1945 over åben terræn og uden artilleristøtte. Under enhedens succesfulde angreb mistede imidlertid mere end halvdelen af mændene livet. Kun 110 overlevede kampen på den amerikanske side.
