FotoMuseet blev festligt genåbnet den 21. marts 2004 efter omfattende renoveringsarbejder. Det eksisterende lager, som museet havde været indkvarteret i siden 1986, blev udvidet med et nybyggeri efter en design af arkitekt Georges Baines. Til den videre udvikling af bygningen efter designfasen arbejdede Baines sammen med arkitekt Patrick De Sterck.
