El FotoMuseo fue reinaugurado festivamente el 21 de marzo de 2004 después de amplias obras de remodelación. El almacén existente, en el que el museo había estado ubicado desde 1986, fue ampliado con una nueva construcción diseñada por el arquitecto Georges Baines. Para el desarrollo posterior del edificio tras la fase de diseño, Baines colaboró con el arquitecto Patrick De Sterck.
