Velm blev berømt som landsbyen fra filmen Rundskop. Belgisk kriminalfilm fra 2011 instrueret af Michaël R. Roskam. Det er et kriminaldrama om bønder og gangstere mod baggrunden af den belgiske hormonmafia. Det tales primært på et Limburgsk dialekt, det Truierlandsk. Jacky Vanmarsenille er en kvægopdrætter fra Sint-Truiden i Limburg, der har indirekte forbindelser til hormonmafiaen. På grund af et traume fra sin barndom har han svært ved at omgås kvinder, og problemerne hober sig op i hans liv. Især når han møder en kendt fra sin fortid. Jacky Vanmarsenille bliver mesterligt spillet af Matthias Schoenaerts.
