Velm became famous as the village of the movie Rundskop. Rundskop is a 2011 Belgiancrime film directed by Michaël R. Roskam. It is a crime drama about farmers and gangsters against the backdrop of the Belgian hormone mafia. It is mainly spoken in a Limburgish dialect, Truierlands. Jacky Vanmarsenille is a cattle farmer from Sint-Truiden in Limburg who has indirect connections with the hormone mafia. Due to a trauma from his childhood, he has a hard time dealing with women and the problems are piling up in his life. Especially when he meets an acquaintance from his past. Jacky Vanmarsenille is masterfully played by Matthias Schoenaerts.
