Velm est devenu célèbre comme le village du film Rundskop. Rundskop est un film belge réalisé par Michaël R. Roskam, sorti en 2011. Il s’agit d’un drame policier sur des fermiers et des gangsters sur fond de mafia belge des hormones. Il est principalement parlé dans un dialecte limbourgeois, Truierlands. Jacky Vanmarsenille est un éleveur de bovins de Saint-Trond dans le Limbourg qui a des liens indirects avec la mafia des hormones. En raison d’un traumatisme de son enfance, il a du mal à traiter avec les femmes et les problèmes s’accumulent dans sa vie. Surtout lorsqu’il rencontre une connaissance de son passé. Jacky Vanmarsenille est magistralement interprété par Matthias Schoenaerts.
