De to søer er resterne af et større antal søer i Maalbeekdalen og ligger mellem Abbediet Ter Kameren mod syd og Flageypladsen mod nord. Sidstnævnte plads blev desuden anlagt i 1860 efter udfyldning af et stort antal søer, som Maalbeek dengang havde. De to resterende søer ligger i en grøn zone og har en samlet længde på cirka 700 meter og hver en bredde på cirka 50 meter. De er adskilt af Gedachtenissquare.
