Den i 2019 ombyggede plads foran rådhuset i Elsene er en fryd for øjet, og det er net hvad man har brug for i dette tæt beboede område. Pladsen giver plads til leg, træer, blomster, springvand og caféterrasser. Fra det tidligere Malibran-slot holder borgmesteren øje med tingene. Dette slot var et sommerhus for violinisten Charles-Auguste de Bériot og blev bygget i 1833. Han bosatte sig der med sin kæreste Maria Garcia Malibran, en berømt sangerinde. Efter Marias død i 1836 blev slottet i 1849 købt af kommunen Elsene, som gjorde det til rådhus.
