I Gasthuisstraat har provinsen Antwerpen anlagt en bypass og genmeandering af Wouwendonkse Loop på grunde ejet af Natuurpunt. Dette skaber ikke kun plads til vand, men også plads til natur. Set fra luften ser meandringen med stolpe ud som en kobra, deraf navnet.
På resten af grunden har Natuurpunt plantet en skov. For at give denne skov alle chancer for at vokse, vil området i nogle år ikke være tilgængeligt.
