Ved at inkludere misplerne i hegnet, som afgrænsede en tidligere frugthave, blev hegnets nytteværdi som afgrænsning forbedret ved at tilføje en udbytte med frugter. Mispel blev høstet efter den første frost, hvilket gjorde frugtkødet blødt og spiseligt.
