Den berømte sangerinde Ann Christy døde i 1984, 38 år gammel af livmoderhalskræft. Hun blev kremeret, og hendes aske blev spredt på kirkegården i Meise. Ann Christy er stadig på hitlisterne for hollandsksproget musik som i de Lave Landers liste. Hun blev kendt med numre som At Være Lykkelig, Rosen og Goddag Fremmede Mand.
Hendes ægtefælle, Marc Hoyois, med hvem hun havde en søn, giftede sig senere med en anden sangerinde, Liliane Saint-Pierre.
