Villa 1900 og 'le Vieux Waulsort' afspejler stemningen fra belle époque. Landsbyen har dog bevaret facaderne af de illustre hoteller, men de elegante damer med deres parasoller er forsvundet fra gadebilledet. I begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede var dette feriested ved flodbredden en favoritdestination for velhavende turister. Enten tog man til havet, til Oostende, eller til Ardennerne, til Waulsort. Og man tog derhen med tog. Jernbanelinjen eksisterer ikke længere, men den lille station vidner stadig om de gode dage, man havde der.
