Villa 1900 en 'le Vieux Waulsort' weerspiegelen de sfeer van de belle époque. Het dorp heeft welliswaar de gevels van de illustere hotels behouden maar de elegante dames met hun parasol zijn uit het straatbeeld verdwenen. In het begin van de 20e eeuw was dit vakantieoord aan de oever van de rivier een favorite bestemming voor welgestelde toersiten. Ofwel ging men naar zee, naar Oostende, ofwel naar de Ardennen, naar Waulsort. En men ging er heen met de trein. De spoorlijn bestaat niet meer maar het kleine station getuigt nog van de leuke dagen die men er beleefde.
