I 1895 besluttede Stavelots kommunalbestyrelse at sætte 28 offentlige vandhaner op. Disse var tilsluttet et begrænset ledningsnet. Du havde brug for en nøgle for at kunne åbne hanen. Der står stadig nogle af disse haner i deres originale placering i Stavelot. Materialet er støbejern, og de er et produkt af industrialiseringen i anden halvdel af det 19. århundrede. De fleste er forsvundet som ofre for vejarbejde. Først ret sent vil vandledningen blive forlænget ind til husene.
