Det højeste platform nås efter en opstigning af 161 trin og giver et enestående panorama.
Belvédère kan nås via en stejl sti direkte fra Bouillon, eller via en rundgående mindre stejl vej, som også kan tilbagelægges i bil.
For at sikre sin sikkerhed havde borgen i Bouillon brug for videreformidlingstationer, både om dagen og om natten. Tårnene på kirkernes plateau, som dem i Bertrix eller Paliseul, spillede denne rolle. Øverst på den gamle vej fra Frankrig kunne vindmøllen modtage beskeder fra forbi Maas i Sedan.
Udkigstårnet i Bouillon kunne derfor modtage signaler fra alle retninger.
