La piattaforma più alta si raggiunge dopo una salita di 161 gradini e offre un panorama eccezionale.
Il Belvédère può essere raggiunto tramite un ripido sentiero direttamente da Bouillon, oppure tramite una strada circolare, meno ripida , molto meno ripida e percorribile anche in auto.
Per garantire la sua sicurezza , il castello di Bouillon aveva bisogno di staffette sia di giorno che di notte. Le guglie delle chiese dell'altopiano, come quelle di Bertrix o di Paliseul, svolgevano questo ruolo. In cima alla vecchia strada della Francia, il mulino a vento potrebbe ricevere messaggi da oltre la Mosa a Sedan.
La torre di guardia del Bouillon potrebbe quindi ricevere segnali da tutte le direzioni.
