'Langs Koning Astrid Park i Aalst går du til Louis Paul Boon-gaden. Denne gade i Vandtårnsområdet blev omdøbt til Louis Paul Boon-gaden efter godkendelse fra byrådet den 6. september 1979, på anmodning af socialisten Jan Van der Veken. Van der Veken motiverede sit forslag som følger: "På grund af Boons betydning som forfatter og som menneske, der med sit hjerte og sine gerninger var en Aalsteraner af den reneste skikkelse."'
