Medebach ligger ved foden af Rothaar-bjergene. Medebach er en hansestad. Hansestæder er medlemmer af Hansestaden, som oprindeligt var en samarbejdsorganisation for tyske byer omkring Østersøen. Senere sluttede også byer fra andre områder sig til. Hansestæderne søgte kontakt til mindre landsbyer og byer i omegnen som Medebach for handel. Medebach er en by med ca. 8000 indbyggere og en række smukke bindingsværkssmykker.
