Familien von der Pahlen er en russisk, litauisk og svensk familie af tysk-baltisk oprindelse. Familien stammer sandsynligvis fra Pommern, men flyttede i begyndelsen af det 15. århundrede til Livland. Den første kendte omtale af familien dateres tilbage til året 1120, da en Johannes de Pala var guvernør i Riga.
Den 18. september 1679 blev fem brødre fra familien med deres efterkommere adlet af kong Karl XI af Sverige. I 1799 gjorde zar Paul Peter Ludwig von der Pahlen til greve. Gennem beslutninger fra den russiske regering i 1755 og 1865 blev de fleste andre medlemmer af Pahlen-familien adlet til friherrestanden i det russiske imperium.
