By Kommune Bremerhaven er en kommune uden amtsforvaltning ved vestkanten af Elbe-Weser-Trekanten, som går ud mod Nordsøen. Som eksklave tilhører den delstaten Frie Hansestad Bremen. Storbyen er en del af Metropolregion Nordvest. Landområdet er omsluttet af Landkreis Cuxhaven, som den repræsenterer som hovedcenter. Historien om havnene i Bremerhaven begyndte i 1830 med den gamle havn. I dag sker en regional strukturel omstilling fra industri- til service- og vidensby. Hochschule Bremerhaven og flere institutter og teknologicentre danner i samarbejde med de bremer videnssteder et centrum for europæisk spidsenologi. Kendte steder inkluderer fyret i Bremerhaven, det tyske skibsfarts museum, det tyske udvandrermuseum og Klimahuset Bremerhaven.
