Rådhuset i Sternberg stammer fra det 19. århundrede. Det ligger i centrum af Sternberg lige ved torvet i byens kerne i umiddelbar nærhed af den tidlig-gotiske bykirke St. Maria og St. Nikolaus.
Omkring 1230 til 1250 blev Sternberg planmæssigt anlagt med et rasterlignende vejnet i en let elliptisk grundplan. I 1248 gav fyrste Pribislaw I. bosættelsen Sternberg byretten. Det første rådhus brændte som mange bygninger ved den store bybrand i 1308.
