Brandvæsenet i byen Minden blev grundlagt i 1872. I dag består det af i alt 15 enheder fra den frivillige brandvæsen og den professionelle brandvæsen med en brand- og redningsstation.
Det er som offentlig brandvæsen ansvarlig for brand- og katastrofeberedskab i den 101 km2 store by Minden med sine cirka 82.000 indbyggere. De fuldtids- og deltidsansatte i brandvæsenet håndterer med deres 87 køretøjer omkring 13.000 udrykninger årligt.
