Den store katedralskat indeholder over 600 kunstgenstande, der daterer sig fra det 5. til det 18. århundrede, herunder en unik tekstilkollektion.[1] Mange meget værdifulde genstande har byzantinsk oprindelse, da de blev bragt til Halberstadt i 1205 af biskop Konrad von Krosigk, der havde deltaget i fjerde korstogs plyndring af Konstantinopel.
