De grote kathedraalschat bevat meer dan 600 kunstvoorwerpen, daterend van de 5e tot de 18e eeuw, waaronder een unieke textielcollectie.[1] Veel zeer waardevolle items zijn van Byzantijnse oorsprong, die in 1205 door bisschop Konrad von Krosigk naar Halberstadt zijn gebracht, die had deelgenomen aan de plundering van de Vierde Kruistocht in Constantinopel.
