Hovedkirkegården i Karlsruhe er en af de ældste tyske kommunale park-kirkegårde. I 1871 begyndte de første planer om opførelsen af et nyt gravfelt uden for bymidten. Kirkegården blev anlagt i 1874 af Josef Durm på Rintheim-området, øst for den egentlige by, efter at den indre bys gamle kirkegård i Karlsruhes østlige del var blevet for lille. Hovedkirkegården er vokset fra sin oprindelige størrelse på 15,3 hektar i 1873 til nu over 34 hektar. I øjeblikket ligger der grave for mere end 32.000 afdøde på kirkegården.
