Det imponerende byggeri med korsformet grundplan blev opført fra 1740 til 1745 af den passauerske bygningsmester Severin Goldberger. Konstruktionsfejl krævede allerede i det 18. århundrede ændringer, og nordtårnet kunne først færdiggøres i 1896.
Længden af tværarmene i centralbygningen svarer også til rumhøjden. Kun vestgalleriet bærer stadig stuk fra byggetiden, mens resten, ligesom freskerne, først blev anbragt mellem 1888 og 1890. Stukmarmoralders fra årene 1743 og 1744 stammer fra Augustin Franz Kämpfl. Billedet på højalteret er malet af Paul Troger. Det viser Marias optagelse i himlen. Prædikestolen fra 1746 blev bygget af en mester Gigl.
