L'imponente edificio con pianta a croce fu costruito tra il 1740 e il 1745 dal maestro edile di Passau Severin Goldberger. Errori di costruzione richiesero già nel XVIII secolo modifiche, e la torre nord poté essere completata solo nel 1896.
La lunghezza dei bracci trasversali del corpo centrale corrisponde anche all'altezza della sala. Solo il coro occidentale conserva ancora stucchi dell'epoca di costruzione, mentre gli altri, così come gli affreschi, furono installati solo tra il 1888 e il 1890. Gli altari in stucco di marmo risalgono agli anni 1743 e 1744 e sono opera di Augustin Franz Kämpfl. L'immagine sull'altare maggiore è stata dipinta da Paul Troger. Rappresenta l'Assunzione di Maria in cielo. La cantoria risale al 1746 ed è stata costruita da un maestro Gigl.
